Monterey Officers Conduct Taser 10 Training

01/08/26 @ 12:00 PM

The Monterey Police Department recently upgraded their Axon Taser Less-Lethal Conductive Electric Weapons (CEW) from Taser X2 to the newest, most advanced version Taser 10.   The newer Taser features 10 individually targeted, single-probe cartridges for increased effectiveness, a longer range of up to 45 feet, and improved accuracy, allowing officers more chances to incapacitate a subject without reloading and enhancing officer safety by reducing the need for lethal force.  Other features include, weather-resistant, protected against dust, and can operate after being submerged in water.  Also, each probe is uniquely marked, aiding in accountability, and it integrates with Axon's data management systems.

Officer Dylan Durham, Taser Instructor, said that "all officers went through classroom training, live fire drills and rigorous real world scenarios in preparation for the Taser 10 deployment."
